137th Annual Arbor Day Celebration

April 24 – 26, 2009
As home to internationally-celebrated Arbor Day, Nebraska City takes its beautiful trees seriously! And we hope you’ll join us for our annual celebration! Our many festival activities include: children’s educational programming, face painting, live music, a 5K Run/Walk, an All-You-Can-Eat Chili Cook-off, the Discovery Ride at the Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure and so much more. Don’t miss the free trees and tree-climbing demonstrations!
The centerpiece of the event is Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, home of J. Sterling Morton, the founder of Arbor Day. This 52-room neo-colonial mansion and surrounding grounds offer a spectacular vantage for celebration, reflection, and romance. Proceeds from the 5K go to preserving this historical gem! Come take a tour, plant a tree, and celebrate spring with community-centered activities for the whole family.
