NEBRASKA CITY GETS RECERTIFIED

Nebraska has been recertified as a Nebraska Economic Development Certified Community. Nebraska City Area Economic Development Corporation (NCAEDC) announces its recertification on May 24th.  NCAEDC's Director Stephanie Shrader said the recertification demonstrates the community's readiness to meet the needs and requirements for site selectors and the state of Nebraska as they work to showcase communities.

Shrader said she is pleased with the recertification and that the standards for earning the designation is getting higher each year.

"This was a team effort and several months of work.  While Patty Schwab just joined NCAEDC in the late fall, she has been a true asset to the process," Shrader said.  "The application was a tremendous commitment of time, but we're confident that it will pay dividends in the future of our area," Shrader said.

There are multiple aspects of the application, including labor demographics, industrial site specifics, utilities, telecommunications and infrastructure capacity, not only at the designated industrial sites but within the community as well.  "Web presence is becoming more and more important, as we are being told that site selection consultants are researching communities through their websites before they even contact the state on site specifics", Shrader said.

"Nebraska City's work on the collaborative website has been a real positive for Nebraska City.  The Nebraska Department of Economic Development looks at certified communities as the communities that are ready and able to meet the requests and provide the ever important critical information on which site selectors make their decisions."
