At the Tree Adventure, climb a tree house 50 feet high; play in the Nature Explore Classroom; explore the Tree House Trail; see "Trees in the Movies," and ride the Discovery Ride through the forest. Visitors can take free seedlings home to plant themselves. Open year-round. Admission. At the Apple House Market, taste apples and other seasonal produce including cherries, pears, and grapes. The area's largest selection of orchard-fresh apples, available by the bag or bushel. Sip Arbor Day Farm's signature wines made from fruit grown on Arbor Day Farm. Unique jams, jellies, salsas, dips, and sauces --full of flavor and perfect for sharing. Open April-November.

Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts is home to a renowned artist-in-residency program which annually welcomes over 50 visual artists, composers and writers from all over the world to live and work in Nebraska City. The center also hosts six fine art exhibitions per year featuring the work of established and emerging Nebraska artists. These exhibits are free and open to the public, Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Facilities are ADA accessible. Artist receptions and first Thursday open studio events are held throughout the year. Tour welcome; please call ahead.

Hiking trails: Hike any or all of the hiking trails on the property (weather permitting). Earth Lodge Trail: Hard surfaced (patio to earth lodge) over grassland Birding Trail: Woodchip surface, between Center and river overlook, through timber DeBruce River Overlook Trail: Woodchip surface patio to overlook, through timber Limestone Bluff Trail: Partial woodchip, partial forest floor, connects earth lodge to river overlook, in timber Meadow Trail: Grass surface, 2+miles (options for shorter distance), connects picnic area at South end of lot with the area on West side of property Visit a full sized replica Native American Earth Lodge: Interpretation brochure available at registration desk Visit the area where the Missouri River Re-enacting Corps have built a log cabin: Where they are carving out a cottonwood canoe and where they re enact during the PM on the 2nd Sunday of each month from May to October. Two Picnic Areas: One near the building and one at the South end of the parking lot Indoor exhibits: Three floors of Interactive exhibits suitable for all ages Lewis & Clark movie: 32 min. in length, tells the story of the river and the expedition Gift Shop/Bookstore: Good selection of Lewis & Clark books, maps, clothing, and other related item for all ages.

Nebraska City's newest museum chronicles the evolution of firefighting and fire safety education by Nebraska City's 150-year-old Volunteer Fire Department. This family-friendly attraction features one of the largest (and oldest) collections of fire equipment in the state. Kids young and old can dress in fire gear and climb aboard a fire engine.

The Nebraska City Museum Association was organized in August 2001. The purpose of the Museum Association is to coordinate the efforts of established Museums as well as other Museums that might be established in Otoe County, Nebraska so that all museums in the county might be better utilized by citizens of the community as well as visitors. The Association provides professional museum consultation to the museums in regard to long range planning, capital improvements, fund development, exhibition planning, educational program planning, and collection management. It also promotes the awareness of the museums in the county and encourages increased usage.
