Our Mission

The mission of our organization is to promote the attraction, creation, retention, and expansion of businesses and to enhance our quality of life in Nebraska City and Otoe County.

Our Goals

Our number one priority is to provide economic development services which focus on the county’s priorities, supported by county-wide business and industry. We strive to meet these needs—by providing diverse job opportunities and increasing capital investment and growth of county-wide valuation—by focusing our efforts on industrial recruitment and retention, business development, entrepreneurship, leadership development and downtown redevelopment. We take our role as the County-wide leadership in economic development to heart. Working on identifying and promoting our county-wide opportunities most importantly by identifying, developing and marketing potential development sites throughout Otoe County.

Our Priorities

Assist current business and industry with retention and expansion needs.
Identify, develop and market potential development sites in Otoe County.
Actively assist and recruit potential employers who create quality jobs and who are best suited to the resources of Otoe County.
Identify, recruit and assist entrepreneurs in the area.
Work with local governmental entities on future development, land use and infrastructure needs.
Educate the public about the importance of economic development to the future of the area.
Assist with the growth of a quality, skilled local workforce.
Work on a regional basis to promote the resources and quality of life in Southeast Nebraska.

2011 Accomplishments

Sold Lot1A in Red Fox Run Development (first building completed this spring).
Developed customized marketing media providing critical information for site selectors to promote available industrial properties in Otoe County, meeting the increasing demand for information in a digital format. 
Created and developed full color mailing cards used for follow-up with contacts incorporating picture of local venue.
Created brochure "Why Land Your Business in Nebraska City" placed at the Nebraska City Municipal Airport.  Viewed by many tourist especially during the Applejack festival. 
Partnered in the development and promotion of our new Nebraska City Logo "Home of Arbor Day - Where Great Ideas Grow" and incorporating logo into multiple marketing projects and promotions.
Used existing billboard to inform travelers and communters we were indeed "Open for Business" even though I-29 had closed from this year's flooding.  Including a "Welcome Back to Nebraska City" sign at the Missouri River Bridge.
Hosted and provided tour of available sites and informational presentation of our local area to businesss prospects.

 
2012 Goals & Priorities

Remain committed to make our existing businesses and industries our number one priority and work with them to help find opportunities to increase revenues, decrease expenses or solve problems.
Continue the infrastructure developments in Red Fox Run Industrial Park and the North Industrial Park sites.
Develop Product Marketing Plan and materials for other local properties to increase awareness for our communities in Otoe County.

 

Strategic Plan 

The NCAEDC Board of Directors participates in strategic planning sessions biannually and prepares a working implementation plan.
